Toshiba Qosmio G40 first notebook with HD-DVD-RW drive

Toshiba Japan has pushed the Qosmio series of notebooks to the limits where they can be seriously called a desktop replacement. The Qosmio G40 and F40 to be launched later this month will be the first notebooks in the world

Features:

  • HD-DVD-RW drive

  • Dual Digital TV tuners - allow you to record two channels simultaneously with the option of burning them on a HD-DVD-RW disc

  • Onboard HD Qosmio Engine delivers sharp and crisp HD playback with natural colors

The G40 comes with a 400GB hard drive and a 17 inch (1,920×1,200) display and the F40 comes with a 200Gig drive and 15.4 inch (1,280×800) display

  • Other specs include 2 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo processor, multimedia remote, Harmon Kardon speakers and Windows Vista Premium.

Scheduled to hit Japan on December 21 the Qosmio G40 measures 440 x 299 x 45.3mm, weighs 4.8kg and will cost 400,000 Yen ($ 3526), whereas the Qosmio F40 measures 379 × 279 × 38mm, weighs 3.5kg and will cost 300,000 Yen ($ 2650).
